World Prematurity Day

Today, on November 17, the world observes World Prematurity Day. Every year, approximately 15 million babies are born prematurely, each requiring special care and medical support. This day is dedicated to supporting families who face the challenges of caring for these tiny fighters and recognizing the invaluable role of healthcare professionals in helping them grow strong and healthy.

Students and faculty at the Dnipro Institute of Medicine and Public Health actively study neonatal medicine and the care of premature infants. Understanding the unique needs of these babies is a crucial part of training future healthcare professionals, as proper care during the first weeks of life often determines a child’s future health and development.

Facts about premature babies:

  • Premature birth is the leading cause of neonatal mortality.
  • Babies born prematurely may require specialized medical equipment and long-term monitoring.
  • Early intervention and proper care significantly improve their chances of healthy development.

Let us come together to support families of premature babies and express our gratitude to medical professionals who work tirelessly to ensure their well-being.

At the Dnipro Institute of Medicine and Public Health, our students are learning to be a reliable source of support for these families. We thank everyone working to secure a healthy future for our smallest and most vulnerable!
